Does Owen Show Up Again in Gossip Girl
'Gossip Girl' recap: Lily of the Valley
Lily's latest problem with Serena takes the elderberry Van der Woodsen back to her troublesome days with her own mother
"Is this the moment where you fall in dear with me?" Um yes. And past yeah I mean I totally fell in love with Brittany Snow on last night'south Gossip Girl . How bang-up was she? Few ladies tin can pull of a pleather jacket, polka dot wearing apparel, and lace tights but she rocked information technology. Side note: Owen is totally Emile Hirsch crossed with Luke Grimes from Brothers & Sisters .
Finally, we laid witness to the much-hyped, much-discussed flashback episode of Gossip Girl, that serves as a potential pilot for a spin-off series. That was an exhausting sentence. Luckily, the actual episode was much more pleasurable.
First off, I loved the grainy, sepia-toned coloring for the flashback scenes. Information technology was a nice touch and much preferred to zooming in on Lily's optics. And I sort of want the soundtrack to this episode. Information technology was like a mixtape for all of my fave songs. The one matter that did bother me was that while the music was fab the whole affair went a little overboard in the '80s references. Like did Owen actually have to exist playing with a Rubik's cube in the backseat of Carol'south motorcar? Although I will give them props for having CeCe working out to Jane Fonda's exercise video. True confession: I used to do that same routine with my mom. And yet she still had no idea I was gay.
I think if this ends up existence an actual series, they demand to dial down the '80s references a tad.
Too, I love that Andrew McCarthy is having this random resurgence on shows that I honey. Starting time it was Lipstick Jungle — R.I.P. Now, it's Gossip Girl. It'southward like Andrew McCarthy is starring in my subconscious. BTW, that's a great proper name for a band: "Please welcome, Andrew McCarthy is Starring in My Hidden!" Whoever steals that, just please credit me anytime.
So we basically got a chance to see that Lily has pretty much always despised her mother and that CeCe was a pretty hein beyotch when Lily was younger. Although, the casting department deserves props for Cynthia Watros every bit the immature CeCe; she looks merely like Caroline Lagerfelt, the actress who plays older CeCe.
The story really picked up though when Lily ran away to find her sister, Carol. True confession #ii: I was actually on gear up the 24-hour interval they filmed that No Doubt functioning scene which was totally astonishing. Merely information technology was great to run into the entire scene all cut together.
Nosotros also got to meet Keith van der Woodsen who may or may not be Serena'due south father/uncle/something. Who knows? I've never been able to get any answers out of the producers. That party scene was a lot of fun, though. Very Less Than Naught. And I loooved the Rhodes girls' indignant reactions when that hateful party chick told them to get dorsum to the Valley.
NEXT: Chuck makes Blair'due south dreams come up truthful
Ultimately, the best scene of the flashback portion was also the best scene of the modern-day section: the final moments between Lily and Ballad and Serena and Blair. They had genuine emotion to them and actually felt like the different pairs were friends. And when Serena told Blair, "Y'all're my sis" I got a little misty. And then again I have allergies so that could take just been some wayward pollen.
Okay, now to the present-day portion of the episode. The large drama there was the whole mother-daughter situation going on with CeCe, Lily, and Serena. Beginning of all, Serena, you're staying in jail to show a indicate? Really? Tin can't y'all but act out like usual or maybe help some dude O.D. similar yous have in the past? I do non buy her staying in the pokey. But I also don't actually think Lily would take her daughter arrested. That seemed like a stretch. But I get what the producers were trying to do. I have to give a shout out to CeCe's "walking outfit," which was all-pinkish and included a brooch. I love that she put on a brooch to go walking. Why non? I just don't remember Lily antisocial her mother as much equally she did in this ep. I hateful, I know that CeCe told Rufus a big secret simply notwithstanding. And when CeCe mentioned that "boy from the Valley" that Lily loved, do we think she meant Owen? Or someone we haven't met however? Very interesting.
The other major story line was Blair going to prom. Vitamin Water product placement warning! Did anyone else notice Dorota handing her a ginormous bottle of Vitamin Water? Flashback to the White Party before in the season. Anyways, Blair'southward dress was BEEEE-YOND. So cute. But are we supposed to believe that Jenny manufactured Serena's dress in similar an hour? I was confused.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the mean girls get Blair to vote for Prom Queen past mentioning that a tiara was involved. It'southward okay, Blair: I similar sparkly things as well. One affair, though: Didn't their prom seem like a big ole drag? Mine was at the Radisson in Kalamazoo, Michigan and seemed a helluva lot more fun.
Can Serena and Dan please showtime dating other people? They're really becoming deplorable. Although, their mutual lack of rhythm equally evidenced past their spin on the trip the light fantastic toe floor sort of makes me think they belong together. No i should have to deal with that. And who the hell was Chuck'due south date?
Speaking of Chuck, the whole setting-up-Blair-to-win-thing was cute but almost a piddling too cute for Chuck. He can't go besides mushy or I'thousand gonna stop liking him. And that hotel room cardinal he gave to Serena for Blair looked similar something from medieval times. What hotel uses keys like that?
And how sorry was Jenny and Vanessa's prom night once Dan totally bailed on them? Although, one thing's for certain whenever Vanessa's attendance: I'll bet there was a whole buffet of coffee drinks! Final idea: Why have nosotros never seen or heard of Lily's sister, Carol, earlier? Is CeCe keeping her locked in the basement or something? Theories?
What did you think of last night'south Gossip Girl? Did you relish the flashbacks? What'southward going to happen in the finale?
